  1. Imagine abstract wireframes underneath the recipe layouts. Focus just on the recipes, and ignore other web page elements such as the navigation menu. How would you describe, compare, and contrast the common elements?

I would describe the layouts of the websites I chose to be pretty straight forward and tactical with the placement of certain content. The larger spaces are mostly dedicated to the images and the smaller spaces are more dedicated towards ads or texts.

2. In your opinion, do any stand out for good layout, or bad?

I think the websites I showcase stand out as good layout as everything seems organized and are put in places where they need to be. You can tell which sections are used for either text, images, or ads and it is usually separated in two columns.

3. What are the top 5 most important elements of a recipe layout? Are any of the recipe layouts missing important elements?

I think the 5 most important elements for a recipe layout is 1) Alignment 2) Text 3) Proximity 4) Sections and 5) Images I believe these sites showcase some of these elements throughout. However proximity is the element lacking in these websites as I feel there’s some clutter and content feels a little squished.

My overall thoughts on recipe layouts is that it is a sort of a one size fits all. You have elements that could be swapped out for any type of recipe with the only difference being the instructions and the important notes for that specific recipe. In that case, bold or highlighted text could be used to make note of it. There is a structure to these recipe layouts and I think it becomes clear when an element is missing.
